HGTV sees a silver lining in the dark clouds of the housing slump
HGTV's advertising revenues have risen 4.3%, to $556 million, this year despite the housing crisis thanks to several adjustments the network has made to respond to the changing economic climate. According to this report, the Scripps Networks Interactive-owned channel has ramped up production of its increasingly popular shows about high-end and international real estate while introducing new programming to guide homeowners on how to create rental spaces and accept realistic market values for their homes.
Cablevision and News Corp. to resume carriage talks today
Talks during the weekend failed to bring to an end the carriage dispute between Cablevision and News Corp., leading to the blackout of major sporting events on Fox for the cable provider's customers in the New York area. The sides agreed to resume negotiations today.
